Fertile Landscape

I've been lucky enough to be the recipient of a few chides lately from people asking me to update this blog--which I find hugely flattering. When I first started This Fragile Fortress just about six months ago, I was heading for a really defining moment in my life and trying to make some sense of it. Since then, I've had surgery, reassessed my gender/spiritual/psychological/familial/relational/professional/artistic identity, and decided to create a book-length collection of essays out of the material I began to explore here. So, thank you so much for caring about this deeply personal project.

I will continue to post blogs here, but I may be a little more erratic up until the summer, as I am working on several huge projects. My brain runneth over, though, so here are some topics I will make note of soon:

1. Identity formation and constriction versus expansion
2. Justice, forgiveness, fairness, and silence
3. The astrological notion of Saturn Return and how it coincides with societal expectations and biology
4. Why trust is a revolutionary act given the biology of humans and, more largely, the implications of spiritual motivations
5. Idealism versus hope
6. Nonviolence, social rules, and the complexity of negotiation in my classroom and beyond
